Nucleus

Nucleus:-

Explanation:

The nucleus is a highly specialized cell organelle which controls all the activities in a cell. It is the brain of a cell. It is round or oval in outline and processes four parts. It is often said as cell organizer. You can get a clear idea about nucleus from the picture below:

Nucleus

Parts:

  • Nuclear membrane
  • Nucleoplasm
  • Chromatin Reticulum
  • Nucleolus

Nuclear Membrane:

The nuclear membrane is the outer delicate covering of the nucleus. It contains pores of different dimensions.

Nucleoplasm:

The nucleoplasm also known as nuclear sap is the protoplasmic substance of the nucleus.

Chromatin Reticulum:

Chromatin Reticulum is composed of a network with highly elongated threads.

Functions:

  • It controls all metabolic processes and hereditary activities of the cell.
  • The nuclear membrane allows exchange of ions between the nucleoplasm and the cytoplasm.
