Nucleus

Nucleus:-

Explanation:

The nucleus is a highly specialized cell organelle which controls all the activities in a cell. It is the brain of a cell. It is round or oval in outline and processes four parts. It is often said as cell organizer. You can get a clear idea about nucleus from the picture below:

Nucleus

Parts:

  • Nuclear membrane
  • Nucleoplasm
  • Chromatin Reticulum
  • Nucleolus

Nuclear Membrane:

The nuclear membrane is the outer delicate covering of the nucleus. It contains pores of different dimensions.

Nucleoplasm:

The nucleoplasm also known as nuclear sap is the protoplasmic substance of the nucleus.

Chromatin Reticulum:

Chromatin Reticulum is composed of a network with highly elongated threads.

Functions:

  • It controls all metabolic processes and hereditary activities of the cell.
  • The nuclear membrane allows exchange of ions between the nucleoplasm and the cytoplasm.

Ribosomes

Ribosomes:-

    Structure:

The structure of ribosomes is circular. It consists of one smaller unit and one larger unit. The smaller unit occurs on the larger unit. The ribosomes remain attached to the endoplasmic reticulum and form the rough endoplasmic reticulum. The ribosomes may also be found in the cytoplasm. You can see this in the picture below:

Smaller unit [Blue] and Larger unit [Red]

   Function:-

The main function of ribosomes is that they are the sites of protein synthesis. Protein Synthesis is nothing but converting mRNA into Protein.
