Endoplasmic Reticulum shortly referred as "ER" is one of the cell organelle. It was discovered by Porter in1945. He named it as Endoplasmic Reticulum in 1952. It orginates from the nuclear membrane. There are two types of er. That is smooth endoplasmic reticulum and rough endoplasmic reticulum.
SMOOTH ENDOPLASMIC RETICULUM:
Ribosomes are not present here.
It is associated with the lipid synthesis.
ROUGH ENDOPLASMIC RETICULUM:
Ribosomes are present here.
It forms the skeleton of the cell.
